The Food Reveal Story

Our story starts years before Food Reveal ever existed: two nutrition students on different health journeys who crossed paths at San Diego State (go Aztecs!) and became friends.

We went on to become registered dietitians, reunite as colleagues, and spend many years working side by side. Over the years, we've worn a lot of hats in the food and nutrition world, and we've loved every version of the work. We've helped restaurants reimagine their menus, developed thousands of recipes, and taught everyone from college students to corporate teams how to cook with more confidence.

We've led wellness programs, guided people from all walks of life with personalized nutrition plans, and advised startups building the next generation of food technology.

Somewhere between the classrooms, test kitchens, and startup labs, we won a few awards and became the kind of business partners who finish each other's sentences.

But nothing prepared us for what came next.

Everything Changed Three Years Ago

When Nicole's sister, Chrissy, was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. Nicole was right there in the trenches with her: navigating appointments, medication schedules, symptom cycles, and the emotional weight of every new phase.

But one of the biggest challenges quickly became something most people take for granted: food.

What could she eat when nausea made everything unappealing? How could she get enough protein when fatigue made cooking impossible? How could the rest of the household still sit down to a meal without adding more stress?

We spent countless hours experimenting with practical, real-world solutions:

  • Breaking meals into small, frequent portions

  • Finding simple smoothies, snacks, and easy-to-tolerate options

  • Adapting recipes to her changing preferences and energy levels

  • Connecting her with oncology dietitians for specialized support

Each small victory (a meal she could tolerate, a nourished day) reinforced a painful truth: families desperately need structured, practical help with everyday meals, and very little realistic guidance outside of the hospital exists.

Over time, we supported more friends and loved ones through treatment. We coordinated meal trains, modified recipes, and developed household-friendly strategies that made nourishment less overwhelming for everyone involved.

What became crystal clear: The burden falls almost entirely on caregivers who are already stretched impossibly thin.

Why We're Building This

For years, Food Reveal focused on helping households make meals easier. But our combined personal and professional experiences made one thing unmistakably clear: families navigating cancer face an urgent, unmet need around food decisions.

We're redirecting our entire expertise toward the families who need it most. We're starting with parents and caregivers of pediatric cancer survivors, who shoulder enormous responsibility with limited practical support.

But our vision extends far beyond: we're building for the 18+ million cancer survivors and their families who deserve better nutrition support throughout every phase of their journey.

This is where our expertise, experience, and heart can make the biggest impact.
