A refreshing sparkling ginger lime mocktail that’s great anytime of year!
We have a slight obsession for sparkling water (plain and flavored) - it’s one of our go-to drinks to stay hydrated throughout the day. And we love coming up with new ways to “spike” it or take it to the next level with other fresh ingredients we have laying around and Bitters (can’t beat old fashioned and grapefruit). We were inspired to create a non-alcoholic version of a Moscow Mule because we also love all things ginger - and the mint from Lauren’s garden was exploding and needed an excuse to be put to use.
A few notes on the Ingredients
There are so many different kinds of ginger beer available. We like the ones that are made with real ingredients and have a strong ginger flavor. Be sure to read the nutrition labels when looking for a good one (we pay attention to the calories, sugars and ingredient lists to compare and pick the best one). Despite the name “beer,” its actually alcohol free (kind of like root beer). Some of our favorites are Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew, Bundaberg Ginger Beer, Fever Tree Ginger Beer and Q Spectacular Ginger Beer (this one is extra spicy!).
We used plain sparkling water to lower the calorie and sugar count a bit (other flavors like lime would work well too).
FRESH MINT + LIME JUICE:
Don’t skip these ingredients! They add sooo much flavor and really complement the ginger beer
Bitters are made from infusions of herbs, roots, fruits, bark and plants and are used in classic cocktails like the Manhattan - and many bars and restaurants use various types of Bitters in their craft cocktails. It is often created in an alcohol base but typically only a few drops are used. You can even make your own Bitters at home! We used Fee Brothers classic Old Fashioned Bitters (with 0% alcohol) in this recipe. When shopping, look at the labels to read the ingredients and check the % alcohol if you’re concerned.
We hope you enjoy this as much as we do! Cheers!
