Highlights From the Biggest Restaurant Show on Earth

Interesting Finds, Trends and Inspiring Chefs

Ok "the Biggest Restaurant Show on Earth" might sound a little dramatic, but with over 2,000 exhibitors, 50+ educational sessions and 65,000 people from around the world perusing McCormick Place in Chicago - this year's National Restaurant Association Show felt like the biggest restaurant show on earth. Or maybe more like Disneyland for food operators (without the roller coasters).

There’s everything from educational sessions on food trends/tech/sustainability/marketing/team building to cooking demos from celebrity chefs and mixology competitions and thousands of food samples.

For three days, we listened to amazing speakers, rolled up our sleeves to make some fun kids meals during a chef demo, walked the floor chatting with innovative food companies and sampled everything from fake meat to robo fro yo to one of the most amazing garlic sauces (that we still can’t stop dreaming about) and enough cold brew coffee to keep a buzz going for the next few weeks. We left feeling inspired by the culinary creativity and excited to share what we saw, heard and tasted!

Stay tuned for future blogs as we dive into more details behind some of the biggest trends in the industry and how you can bring them back to your own kitchen:

  1. Mediterranean Cuisine

  2. Plant-Focused Meals

  3. Healthy Kids Meals

  5. Functional Ingredients
